Nice Sweater

Look at those stylish people in the classy sweaters! Hannah and I had a tacky Christmas sweater party and white elephant gift exchange with our small group from church. I scored a sweet monkey hat and Hannah got a fine collection of pens. These people are as crazy or crazier than they look and we love em. A special thanks to Hannah's mom Barb for supplying us both with party attire.

Projects

Things are busy here. I built Hannah the world's tallest book shelf for her birthday so she could have room for her new printing press. Now she's working hard to get ready for a local art show next weekend. Lucca had her first experience with snow. We also returned from our Christmas tree cutting expedition empty-handed...another first.

Our small group from church is raising money to build a well that will provide clean drinking water to 500 people in Africa. If you want to help or learn more, check out this link.

new press

rob and i made a quick trip to tacoma a few weeks ago to get this little gem. we were able to see some good friends for about 24 hours before picking up the rental car and the press to drive 18 hrs back to fort collins before work on monday. quite the little adventure for a november weekend, but it was totally worth it and a lot of fun.

lucca :: 4 months old

lucca is 4 months old right now. i think we have a hole in our yard for every week she has been alive... she seems to be more of a digger than a chewer.

she hates her leash. she acts like we tied a 20lb weight onto her whenever we put her harness & leash on.

out for a walk.

little eli :: nephew #6

elliott (eli) clayton melby was born on october 31st. amanda did a great job! because they decided to have him in fort collins we only had to drive about a mile and a half to see the little guy.

climbing

this past weekend rob and i went rock climbing with my dad. we had a great time, although i had a few flashbacks to the presidential physical fitness tests from elementary school when those of us who couldn't do a pull up instead had to time how long we could hang from the bar. as i was hanging onto the rock i found myself wishing i would have added a few pull ups to my workout routine recently.

Lucca and the guitar

she's taking lessons from rob.

Winter Already?

This past weekend I climbed Quandry Peak with Chris, Elliot, and a friend from church. The pictures above are from the 14,235 ft summit on September 13! It was crazy how much snow there was! We probably could have skied down the mountain into Brekenridge. Good thing Elliot and I decided to where shorts and running shoes.

Hannah skipped the climb to stay home with Lucca. Lucca still needs some shots before we can take her on hikes. She is getting bigger quickly. I think we're doing a pretty good job training her...but give us a holler if you know how to keep dogs from doing running leaps onto you while you are sitting on the couch. I know we are borderline obsessive about our dog, but you have to admit, she is really, really cute.

Lucca

Our family is getting bigger! We picked up Lucca from a farm this weekend. She is an eight week old golden retriever/black lab mix. She'll probably look like a black golden retriever when she grows up. We know she'll be awesome at hiking, frisbee, not pooping in the house, and bringing us the paper. But we hope she stays this small for a long time because she is dang cute!

Backpacking on the CDT

our 8 day trip turned into a 5 day trip after i got a few large blisters and a black and blue toe, but we still had beautiful scenery and a wonderful time. a few of our afternoons were spent waiting out rain storms, but each morning we woke to blue skies.

4th of July Bally-hoo

Independence Fun with Sonlight Fort Collins. Tubing the Poudre, shrimp boil, Fat Bat, Erica's amazing cheesecake flag, fireworks, more fireworks from the neighbors. Good Times!

Cliff Jumping with Katie, Tim, and Tres. Why should a rattlesnake stop the fun? Nice form Tim!

Katie is a bit of a show-off.

Rob imitates Katie.

Hannah does her own thing.

Tres swims like a champ for a lab with three legs. Tim swims good too, and he only has two legs.

Intense badminton in our backyard with the cousins. You want Jon on your team...or Brianna.

Rock it out Finn.

Rock it out Jake.
