Chicks

We've been talking about getting chickens for years and we finally did it! We got an ameraucana, which lays green eggs, a red star, black star and barred rock. Rob named them after his grandmother's and great aunt and my late grandma. We have Geneva, Gortona, Freda and Toots. Freda is the adventurous one that has already flown out of the brooder. They are all very friendly so far. Cedar is getting the hang of holding them without squeezing. We are trying to hold them frequently so they are good around kids. So far Lucca has remained interested, but uninvolved :). We look forward to fresh eggs this summer!

Beginnings

We are starting our garden for the year. Cedar is finding lots of worms and enjoys making large holes where I have just raked.
